It's time to come home.

Your favorite spots on campus, the teachers you cherish, the people who impacted your life. You'll find all of them here in June.

The full schedule of events is listed below. Sign up for the activities that interest you (you won't want to miss Mr. Yan's celebration to wrap up the weekend) and tell your friends to sign up, too.

We'll see you June 16th and 17th!

Event Registration

When: Friday, June 16th from 5:00 - 7:00PM (Rain or shine)

Where: Outdoor Patio at 555 Main Street

Cost: $10 per adult + additional $10 charge if children attend

Let’s kick off Alumni Weekend with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan and all of our Prairie people! Bring your family and tell your classmates to join you for cocktails and delicious food, provided by Red Onion Café and Events.

When: Saturday, June 17th from 10:00AM - 1:00PM

Where: The Prairie School

Familiar faces and spaces: they are the reasons for returning, the reasons Prairie feels like home. Saturday morning begins by reconnecting you with the people who make Prairie, Prairie. Current and former TPS faculty and all of our alumni are invited to stop by, enjoy a continental brunch, and make your way through the halls on a self-guided tour. We will also take time to honor the following retiring faculty members during Saturday morning's activities:

  • Maria Fiocchi, Upper School Spanish Teacher and World Language Department Chair
  • Maggie McDonough, Head of Upper School
  • Jim Zielinski, Co-Director of College Counseling

While you’re here, take time to participate in one of our Live Like a Student activities: paint a bird with Bill Reid '73, warm up your vocal chords with Pat Badger, or see if you’ve still got what it takes to be a TPS athlete in one of our pick-up games.

"Live Like a Student" Activities

Put a Bird On It: Art with Bill Reid '73 (11:00AM - 12:00PM)
Visit the Art Room and paint a metal bird created by Bill just for Alumni Weekend! Participants are welcome to come by anytime during the hour to make their creation.

The following activities were created with Prairie alumni in mind, but other guests are welcome to join in the fun!

A Prairie Medley: Music with Pat Badger (11:30AM - 12:30PM)
Whether you were a choir room regular or have never sung a note, join your classmates for a musical trip down memory lane. Participants will rehearse a song to be performed during Saturday afternoon’s Alumni Weekend Celebration. The performance component is optional, but the song is so much sweeter with many voices!

Go Hawks: An Afternoon of Athletics (12:00 - 1:00PM)

All athletic facilities (Johnson Athletic Center and Field House, Ruud Family Soccer Complex, and Tennis Courts) will be open for use, and equipment will be available. Meet up with a classmate for a quick rally, play a game of H-O-R-S-E with your child, or test out the FIFA turf field.

When: Saturday, June 17th from 1:00PM - 3:00PM

Where: The Prairie School Playground

Cost: $10 per adult + additional $10 charge if children attend

Ah, 2003. You remember. Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow. iPods and Ugg boots. Join your fellow classmates for this family-friendly celebration on the Prairie playground, marking 20 years since your time together on campus. There will be food and drinks, appearances by former faculty, games, grainy yearbook photos, and all the throwback tracks you can handle. Probably lots of photo opps, too - although you no longer need to bring a disposable camera. They have phones for that now.

When: Saturday, June 17th from 3:00PM - 5:00PM

Where: The Prairie School

Pick the sport: basketball, soccer, volleyball. No matter the competition, one fan is sure to be there: Chao-Ying Yan. We’ll wrap up Alumni Weekend honoring Mr. Yan, Prairie’s ultimate Hawk. Over the course of 26 years, our beloved colleague, teacher, and friend has had an impact on the way we learn and lead at Prairie. Saturday afternoon will be spent cheering Mr. Yan on into his next season of life with great friends, food, and fandom.

Prairie is proud to offer Saturday's all-class activities at no cost to our alumni and their guests, but as a nonprofit organization we rely heavily on the generosity of our community to make this programming possible. Your tax-deductible donation supports our mission, our students, and our faculty, and our community is grateful for a contribution of any size.
